Les Selene
Inhabitants of the Moon
Les Selenes were inhabitants of the moon.
They are deliciously and seditiously bohemian, majestically lighter than air. Laura and Olivier, French acrobats who learned their craft under the big top with such personalities as Alexandre Romanes, manifest their poetic and vibrant homage to the world via the art of the circus. Olvier comes from the watery world of sailing and Laura from that of classic dance and theatre. Together they compose a synthesis of grace and sensuality. They have developed wonderful numbers on both the rope and the motionless quadre aerienne. Their physical skill is undeniable and they use this to gift to embody elegance and poetry like Laura’s airborne glances as her body wraps around Oliver’s, their complicit smiles as they stamp into our memories the imaginary sculptured images of surprising courage and trusting harmony.
